In Sacred Blaze, the player assumes the role of and has the ability to bestow various player characters with abilities to use in combat. Reception Sacred Blaze was given a 31 out of 40 by magazine. It was the 8th best-selling game in Japan during its release week at 18,000 copies.

His score for Dragon Shadow Spell was fantastic, and his contributions to Poison Pink only made him seem like that much better of a composer. With Flight-Plan's latest Strategy RPG, Sacred Blaze, we find that perhaps Okamoto is running out of steam. But fear not! It seems a new challenger has stepped in to prove his skills.
In fact, Okamoto composed less than half of the tracks on this OST (he did exactly 18 of the 47 tracks). The rest of the work fell upon a complete newcomer, Tomohiro Sumikama. What little I could find about this composer suggests that he's new to game music, and he's definitely a young guy. What's surprising is that, for the most part, Sumikama outshines Okamoto on this soundtrack. The tracks that Okamoto contributed seem like the weak 'filler' music that I'd occasionally find on his other works.
Thus, Sumikama doesn't have much in the way of competition. And as his debut opus in VGM, he doesn't do half bad! I suspect Sumikama takes a lot of inspiration from Okamoto's score for Dragon Shadow Spell. Though the music is ever-synthesized, there's an impressive blending of orchestra and dance pop rhythm found throughout this OST. I first heard it, most clearly, on track 16 of the first disc. 'Phantom ghost' sounds like something straight off of Dragon Shadow Spell.
It's catchy, it's fun to listen to on repeat; it works great for a battle theme. This same trend follows clear through the end of the first disc. After hearing the first few tracks of disc one (all composed by Okamoto), I was worried I wouldn't find what I wanted to find on this soundtrack. But Sumikama didn't let me down. As for good Okamoto tracks? Disc 2, tracks 11 and 15, both come from Okamoto-san.
And they're not half-bad. I get bored with them before the track is even over, but on a technical level, the compositions are strong. The game's opening and ending vocal tracks come from the same vocalist, and her delivery of the English lyrics are.well, they're pretty bad.
Her tone of voice is dark and deep, and I can appreciate the performance for the most part. But the annunciation is weak. Well, sometimes it's weak, and sometimes it's strong while yet being wrong in technical terms. Overall, Sacred Blaze will probably remain a largely forgotten work, even among faithful fans of the small Japanese developer Flight-Plan. But I think what we see here is a new composer coming into the light and learning how to fit into a mold. Perhaps, down the road, we will see him come into his own.

Most of these games function as tactical RPGs, with the exceptions of Shadow Tower Abyss, Shining Wind, and Tales of Rebirth, which are all action RPGs. A unique case is Namco x Capcom, in which there is tactical movement, but actual attacking is done in the style of an action RPG.

Other RPGs that particularly stood out to me include Sacred Blaze, in which the player is a deity and can choose what abilities the heroes get. Another is Sakura Wars: In Hot Blood, which not only functions as an RPG, but also as a visual novel. PS2 is still relatively complex for most fan translation groups, so very few games have fan translations. Like I said, only 2 in the list have them. I've only seen a grand total of maybe 10 PS2 games with English fan translations that reached a release.
A bunch were in progress, but the forums or threads appear to have died. Last update on Tales of Rebirth from Absolute Zero was like 3 years ago, and they have been working on it for at least 6 years. Phantasian Productions was working on Destiny and Destiny 2, but their forum died last year, if not earlier, and it took them 10 years to finish a PS1 translation project. Ones I can think of: Dragon Quest V Final Fantasy X-2 International Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System Berserk Front Mission 5 Namco X Capcom. You would have a faster time learning Japanese and then playing the games yourself than waiting for groups to translate all of these old games.
There are way more games for each console that don't get translated than there are groups of people with time and skill to do free translation projects before the console dies and another one comes out with more games to translate. Groups have to pick and choose what is interesting to them to translate, and they need hackers that can provide tools to extract the data and implant the translated results, as well as figure out all the programming logic and file data structures. No Venus and Braves? Tales of Destiny 2 or Tales of Destiny Director's Cut? I'm pretty sure I have a few others when I get to look at my library. Around half of the Tales games didn't get released outside of Japan from the PS2/PSP era and earlier. It wasn't until PS3 that most started getting brought over.

The series was sparse until modern times. Heck, skits were removed from the English releases of Eternia and Destiny, and half of Legendia was unvoiced in English. EDIT: just though of another RPG that didn't make it to my knowledge. Growlanser 2 and 3 were brought over by Working Designs, and I think Growlanser 5 was brought over by someone else, but that leaves out Growlanser 1, 4, and 6.

Start a single player game and press (or the key above Tab) during a game to display the console window. Enter sys cheats 468 to enable cheat mode.
Then, enter the following codes at the console window to activate the corresponding cheat function. Note: Enabling a code will force a rabbit costume on your character when exported. Thus, any character that appears online as a rabbit has used cheat codes.
